CUBED Architects, San Diego, California, has been awarded a major laboratory design project at the Main Campus of the University of California San Diego (UCSD). The project will involve the design of new highly specialized research space to support medical advancements in the treatment of communicable deseases. Funded by a combination of sources, including the Veterans Administration, the new space will meet revised NIH BSL3 criteria. When complete, the new laboratory spaces will be capable of supporting the most advanced research activities. UCSD is a major medical research university located in La Jolla California. The new laboratories will be part of the Stein Research Laboratory on the Main Campus site. Work has begun on the design. Construction will be underway in 2012. |
